Overview

Designed end-to-end ERP workflows for a pharmacy chain — admin, pharmacy floor, billing, and customer-facing flows — built around real operational constraints.

Problem

Pharmacy staff were juggling 3+ disconnected tools for inventory, billing, and prescriptions, causing slow checkouts and stock errors.

Research

Shadowed pharmacists across multiple stores, mapped the full prescription-to-bill journey, and benchmarked five competing ERPs.

User Persona

Pharmacy operators, billing staff, and store managers who need speed at the counter and visibility at HQ.

Competitor Analysis

Most pharmacy ERPs over-index on inventory and ignore the counter experience. Opportunity: design the billing surface as the primary workspace.

Challenges
  • Compliance and prescription validation rules
  • Designing for low-tech-comfort staff
  • Supporting both walk-ins and home delivery in one flow
Product Strategy

Counter-first ERP. Optimize for time-to-bill, then layer admin reporting and inventory intelligence on top.

Workflow
  • 1.Prescription intake (walk-in / upload)
  • 2.Stock check and substitution suggestions
  • 3.Billing with insurance and discount rules
  • 4.Inventory deduction and reorder flag
  • 5.Admin reporting per store and SKU
User Journey
  • 1.Customer hands over prescription
  • 2.Pharmacist bills in under 60 seconds
  • 3.Customer pays and receives digital invoice
  • 4.HQ sees the transaction in near real time
Features
  • Counter billing console
  • Inventory and expiry tracker
  • Multi-store admin dashboard
  • Customer profile and order history
  • GST-compliant invoicing
Execution

Delivered Figma flows, dashboard layouts, and a clickable prototype. Partnered with engineering on data model and edge cases.

Outcome
  • Faster average checkout time in pilot
  • Single source of truth across stores
  • Foundation for delivery and quick-commerce expansion
Key Learnings
  • Design the highest-frequency screen first
  • Compliance rules belong in the workflow, not on top of it
  • Operators trust products that respect their muscle memory
